Living Water מים חיים

As much as I love making jewelry, one of my other passions is mosaics. The stones and glass have been calling to me lately, so I shifted gears a bit and spent a couple of glorious afternoons making this piece. The title is מים חיים (mayim chaim) which means living water. The inspiration for this mosaic is Psalm 1:1-4 .
¹How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
²But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
³He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The challenge was to represent a concept without words. It is a small version of a bigger one that I did several years ago. This one may eventually have a home in a church that was designed by my friend Michelle. The church has been trying to get its financing together to build the new sanctuary, but haven't quite reached their goal.

In the mean time, it sits in my basement in an area where I frequently pray and it always brings to mind were my focus should ultimately be.

Fun Outing and New Jewelry

Every once in a while it is good to go on an art field trip. It kind of gets the creative juices flowing. That's what I did on Thursday. A local artist had bought some of my jewelry and emailed me and introduced herself. We sent several emails back and forth but had not met in person. She has an event at her house every second Thursday, called Studio Thursdays. I went to my first one last Thursday. Her business is called Silo Studios because their house is built around an old grain silo. It is the most beautiful and unique house that reminds me of a lighthouse. She makes wonderful, whimsical, colorful furniture, signs, and other cool stuff. I had a blast! She also asked me if I want to bring some jewelry to sell next time so I'd better get to work!
Two other new blogs are added to my links today. My daughter-in-law is launching a blog for her jewelry and my son is doing one just for fun.



I have been venturing back into soldering. I haven't done much of it since many years ago when I was doing stained glass so it is taking some practice to get proficient again. Here are some new necklaces that are collages under glass. A couple of them are sold already. Yay!

New Jewelry

Happy New Year everybody! I have been too distracted by all of the holiday bustle to blog lately. I have been reading everyone else's, but have neglected my own. Even though I have not been blogging, I have been making jewelry. Some of it is in various stages of completion, but today I listed two pieces on etsy. It's all a little different from what I have been doing, though it still involves copper. When I finish the others I will post them. Here is a little taste of what I've been up to.
