Night Visitors

Can you see the glowing eye? This little owl and its friend landed on our steps the other night. My hubby came running in saying, "Get the camera!" Sorry the picture is a little blurry. I'm just getting used the my new camera, but I did manage to capture one of them on it. We've also been having flocks of little wood ducks fly in every evening to roost by our pond. It's funny to sit out at night and listen to them squeek; they don't quack like other ducks. They are too far away for me to get a good picture of them though. It's always a nature adventure around here.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been working on the big mosaic project and just finished the main pieces and started installing them. I then have to tile the whole bathroom around them and paint the walls. I will definitely post pictures of it when I'm done.

Meanwhile, I have managed to make a little jewelry. Shawn at Silo Studios has requested that I make some colorful, funky pieces for the next show so that's what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm using some vintage junk as the focal pieces with some glass and fabric beads in some of the necklaces. I've been neglecting earrings...next I need to focus on that, and maybe some bracelets. Here are a few of the new ones.

Mosaic Pedestal

I just completed a garden pedestal for myself. Sometimes I have to do a piece just for me and not for sale. Don't muzzel the oxen that treadeth the grain. I have had a couple of pieces of salvaged pvc sewer pipe for several months, waiting with this project in mind. The tile is also salvaged from various projects of my own and my mom's and sisters's. I't is about 3 feet tall and 7 inches in diameter. I am using it to cover the unsightly pipe that goes to our septic tank that I've been looking at for 11 years. Now it's covered.

Kitty Castle

I just finished a project that I've been wanting to do for a long time. My cats have been using a cardboard box on our deck, for a home for the winter, like poor little homeless kitties. It was also pretty unsightly. I've been saving scrap lumber and tile from our building projects and decided that it was time to build them a house. I drafted my DH to help with the heavy stuff and technical support. I don't think he was aware of how elaborate it was going to be. I tiled on it for two afternoons and my daughter-in-law helped do one side. Today I grouted it and now I need to make them a cushion for the inside. When the guys get home tonight, I'll have them move it to the deck and goodbye cardboard box. Also here is a picture of Bella and Tilly watching me make their house. It was a fun project. Next, maybe I'll do houses for my dogs. It will have to be a really big one for a Great Pyrenees
